Hargey raises questions in relation to severe weather response

Speaking after a Sinn Féin Press Conference in Belfast City Hall yesterday morning, Laganbank Sinn Féin councillor Deirdre Hargey has said that Sinn Féin councillors and MLAs have been working tirelessly since 17th December to date in alleviating the hardships being experienced by the residents of Belfast as a consequence of the severe weather conditions. Day of action in across Belfast to assist with snow clearance

Belfast has experienced the worst wintry conditions in twenty years with prolonged snowfall making it very difficult for people to access local community facilities and services. Local Sinn Féin representatives today joined with community activists in Short Strand, Lower Ormeau Road, the Market and Finaghy to clear snow and salt areas around schools, folds, shops and churches. Maskey supports Green New Deal proposals

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has said that proposals that have been brought forward by the Green New Deal Group have the potential to create thousands of jobs across the north, as well as reducing fuel poverty levels and helping the environment. Minister ignores wishes of Environment Committee after Airport decision - Ó Donnghaile

East Belfast Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has hit out at today's decision by the Environment Minister Edwin Poots to lift the cap on the passenger numbers at Belfast's George Best airport saying that the Minister's move "ignores the express wishes of the Assembly Environment Committee who had urged the Minister to defer a decision on removing the limit of sales until the inquiry into the runway extension was completed".
