DUP Finance Minister does not grasp the full implications of NAMA

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has stated that the DUP 's Finance Minister has not grasped fully the implications of the affect NAMA would have on the local economy if £5bn worth of assets currently held in the north were released onto the market under the Irish Governments proposals. Cost of Policing East Belfast parades and 'unacceptable drain on resources'

East Belfast Sinn Féin representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has described the cost of policing Loyalist parades which pass interface areas in East Belfast as an 'unacceptable drain on resources'. Niall was speaking after it was revealed at last weeks East Belfast DPP meeting that the cost of policing such parades in East Belfast from 1st June 2009 to 31st August 2009 was approximately £118,000. Parker urges attendance at South Belfast Policing consulatation

Maskey appeals to parents of students in advance of PSNI meeting

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has appealed to parents of students staying in the Holylands area to ensure that they take an interest in what their children are doing while they are in Belfast and has also said that he will be seeking a meeting with the PSNI to discuss what plans they have for tackling anti-social behaviour in the Holylands area. Housing Executive must show equality to Irish Language - Ó Donnghaile

Sinn Féin representative for east Belfast, Niall Ó Donnghaile has criticised the Housing Executive for showing clear inequality to Irish language speakers throughout the north. Mr Ó Donnghaile's comments come after he was contacted by a constituent and Housing Executive tenant after they received a leaflet from HE called 'Housing Executive - Improving communication for all'. Low flying jet incident highlights airport expansion fears

East Belfast Sinn Féin representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has said that news that Belfast City Airport are to investigate an incident which occurred yesterday, in which it is believe that a low flying jet was responsible for smashing roof tiles on an East Belfast house, highlights the genuine concerns that many residents in the area have about proposals to expand the airport. Call for sex offender management information at South Belfast DPP

Balmoral Sinn Féin representative, and member of the South Belfast DPP, Vincent Parker is to ask the South Belfast DPP to invite the PSNI's Public Protection Unit to make a presentation on the PSNI's management of sex offenders in the area. Vincent Parker was speaking in advance of this Tuesday's private South Belfast DPP meeting, and after serious concerns had been raised about the number of convicted sex offenders being housed in South Belfast. Maskey calls for Upper Ormeau traffic-calming

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has called for traffic-calming measures to be installed in the streets running between the Ormeau and Ravenhill Roads. The issue had been highlighted by residents in the area during a recent canvass carried out by Sinn Féin to gauge the issues most important to residents and was also one of the issues discussed during a meeting Alex held with representatives of the Ulidia Residents Association last week.
