Bairbre de Brún welcomed into the Short Strand

Sinn Féin East Belfast Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile, along with members of the local Martin/Treacy Sinn Féin Cumann, welcomed MEP for the Six Counties Bairbre de Brún into the Short Strand yesterday (Sunday 16th April). While there they visited a number of families and community representatives; Niall took the opportunity to brief the Sinn Féin MEP on a number of issues within the area. Read full article

Latest Woodlands incident underlines need for commitments to be followed up

Balmoral Sinn Féin representative Vincent Parker has said that the theft of around £300, credit cards and mobile phones from changing rooms at Woodlands Playing Fields on Wednesday night highlights the urgent need for the measures agreed by Belfast City Council, the GAA and the PSNI to deal with anti-social behaviour at the Park to be implemented without delay. Maskey urges people to be on guard from bogus callers

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has called upon people in South Belfast to be on their guard following an incident involving a bogus caller in Hatfield Street. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon when the bogus caller, claiming to be from Belfast City Council, called to the home of a pensioner in Hatfield Street and tried to gain entry to the house. Fortunately, the man fled when asked for identification. Read full article

Maskey to discuss proposals to tackle Holyland problems with South Belfast residents groups

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey will, next Tuesday, meet with a number of residents groups in South Belfast to discuss his proposals to tackle the problems associated with the Holyland area. Alex Maskey has also tabled a Private Members Bill in the Assembly to discuss the issue. Speaking in advance of the meeting he stressed that these problems are not exclusive to the Holylands, but rather they affect all of the communities surrounding Queens University. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has called upon all political and community leaders in the South Belfast area to unite in support of foreign nationals who live within the area and to make it clear that racism from any quarter has no place in our society. Sinn Féin arranges meeting to tackle Woodlands anti-social issues

Bamoral Sinn Féin representative Vincent Parker has arranged a meeting that will include Belfast City Council, the GAA, the PSNI, and a number of residents who live in the vicinity of the Woodlands Park area. The meeting has been organised in order to ensure that all organisations work fully with residents in the Finaghy Road North/Woodlands Park area to curtail anti-social behaviour that has been on the increase in that area.
