Calls for Inquiry extension after 229 cases of C-Diff in South Belfast Hospitals

Balmoral Sinn Féin representative Vincent Parker, commenting after it was revealed that South Belfast Hospitals dealt with 299 cases of Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff) between August 2007 and August 2008, has called on Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey to extend the proposed Public Inquiry into revent deaths from this bug in the Northern Trust area to all Health Trusts. Bhí 82% de na haighneachtaí ó Bhéal Feirste ag iarraidh aitheantais d'ainmneacha Gaelacha na dtoghcheantar úr, agus ní raibh oiread is aighneacht amháin ag cur ina éadán seo. Sinn Féin raises Irish Language rights at Boundary Commission presentation

Recently Sinn Féin made several recommendation to the Boundary Commission's public hearings; among the issues raised by Sinn Féin, was the inclusion of Irish place names within any new Council boundaries. 82% of submissions from Belfast called for official recognition of Irish place names within any new Council areas, not one single submission opposed this position. Party members Rosie McCorley (West Belfast DPP sub-group) and Niall Ó Donnghaile (East Belfast Representative) both addressed the commission in Irish, as did Dr Pól Deeds from south Belfast language and cultural centre, An Droichead Teo. Their presentations were simultaneously translated for the benefit of the commissioners and those attending the presentations without Irish. Read full article

Call for PSNI barracks removal ahead of Policing Board Budget meeting
