Sinn Féin position on Water Charges vindicated

South Belfast Sinn Féin Assembly candidate Alex Maskey has said that today's announcement that the Assembly would have the power to scrap the proposed Water Tax has vindicated the Sinn Féin argument against the charges and should now spur on all of the parties to share power and ensure that the Assembly works for the benefit of all of the people. Maskey challenges PSNI Chief Constable on South Belfast crime

South Belfast Assembly candidate Alex Maskey, speaking after meeting PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde as part of a Sinn Féin delegation on Friday has said that the meeting was upfront and wide ranging in the issues it dealt with. Of particular focus was the failure of the PSNI to tackle crime in South Belfast and their inadequate response to hate crime in the area. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin to build upon ongoing work with ethnic minorities

South Belfast Sinn Féin Assembly candidate Alex Maskey has today announced that the Party will be building upon its ongoing work with ethnic minorities by commissioning a number of initiatives which will see the Party make itself more relevant to ethnic minorities in the area saying, "I believe that the onus is on politicians to give a lead if build a truly inclusive society where many cultures come together to enrich our community as a whole". Maskey welcomes sewer system upgrade in Lower Ormeau

South Belfast Sinn Féin Assembly candidate Alex Maskey has welcomed the news that the Belfast sewers project is due to commence work in March on upgrading the current sewer infrastructure in the River Terrace area. South Belfast Sinn Féin Assembly election candidate Alex Maskey has described Dublin Government proposals for representation in the Dáil for MPs from the Six Counties as a long delayed first step which must be built upon in the time ahead.
